The Canopied entrance to our resort…..
We recently spent time on the island of Kauai. The island is more lush and rainy than it’s sister the Big Island. The drive to our oceanfront resort was stunning and peaceful.
Jarring the silence was our totally inappropriate convertible 16 year old’s dream of a car……we reserved the car thinking that it would be sunny and we could bask in the warmth and drive the coast. The weather did not cooperate and we were stuck juggling a GIANT double golf bag and my Orca-sized Rimowa case in a back seat the size of a toy poodle. Additional baggage at my feet and jammed into the miniature trunk.
It was so dangerous looking that a cab driving directly behind us kept falling back…….
Just as you think it couldn’t get any better (or more humiliating…) the rain got worse by the end of our visit and we had to hire a cab just to get our luggage to the airport.
The very kind local pulls up in front of the hotel and politely asks the concierge to summon us for our ride to the airport…….the concierge calmly informs him that we have a car……the cab is for our luggage! He was still laughing as he unloaded the luggage and drove away.
We did get one very small window of sunset……..yes, the top was down! Aloha
