BEING POSITIVE … WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

WE all know that person who just lights up a room. They radiate that certain “something”….and, they make whatever experience they are involved in fun! What IS that quality? What sets them apart?

Turns out … it’s most likely the old “POSITIVE THINKING” thing. While no one wants to walk around smiling as though they have no clue of what is going on, keeping your mind on positive thoughts has a great many benefits for all of us.

Being optimistic is often thought of as the cornerstone for making your life successful and happy. And really, it’s true! There are several benefits to positive thinking which influence our health, confidence and relationships with other people.

If you weren’t “born” into this category, and wonder why you should even give this “positive” thing a shot, here are some reasons for you:

POSITIVE PEOPLE DEAL WITH STRESS BETTER AND FASTER.

If a challenging situation crops up, they concentrate on solving it rather than thinking that the challenge is our of their control. Actually, they are less apt to experience stress as they don’t have a habit focusing on negative thoughts.

THEY ENJOY BETTER HEALTH.

RESEARCH shows that those who think positively live longer and feel better than those who don’t. Period. All negative emotions reflect immediately on our body, and when we are stressed and have negative thoughts, we don’t sleep well, our muscles become stiff, we become anxious and feel crabby about everything. Magically, as we get rid of those negative thoughts, we also get rid of their physical result.

BETTER RELATIONSHIPS WITH PEOPLE.

Positive people make a better first impression and usually have a lot of friends. People are attracted to positive people and want to maintain a friendship with them, that’s why positive thinkers have an active social life. The same goes for romantic relationships – that positive energy attracts more attention from the opposite sex. Think about it…no one wants to date the crying person slouched in the corner, right? Makes sense.

BEING POSITIVE GIVES YOU MORE FOCUS.

When you realize that the problem you are facing is not going to make the Earth stop spinning, you learn to stay more focused. As a result, you can make the right calls even in a challenging situation.

YOU HAVE MORE CONFIDENCE.

Positive thinking gives you confidence. You feel comfortable coping with your life and it’s challenges (this is NOT to say that some of these challenges won’t be hard for you…..life throws some tough stuff in your path…but, you have the skills to get through it), you learn to make confident decisions and it boosts your confidence.

POSITIVE THINKERS = HAPPIER LIVES.

Positive people do not concentrate on their failures and see more life opportunities. They are open to learning and trying something new.
