COVID 19 TODAY…
I am more than aware that people world-wide are concerned about the spread of the Coronavirus and rightly so. I am by no means trying to minimize the potential problems but I do think we need to keep things in perspective. Here are some facts – estimated up – from the Johns Hopkins coronavirus tracking website. You can find it here: https://www.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6
Worldwide, today at 7:30 am MDT, there were approximately 553,000 cases worldwide. The total population is estimated to be 7.5 billion – 7,500,000,000. That is a percentage of about 0.000074. In the US, there are approximately 87,000 cases out of a total population of about 328 million people – 328,000,000. This is a percentage of about 0.00027.
Will these numbers continue to grow? Absolutely they will!! We need to take all of the necessary precautions as prescribed by the CDC. Yes, let’s practice social distancing, work from home if possible, quarantine as needed and avoid contact with the most vulnerable. But, PLEASE DO NOT PANIC!
Do NOT hoard toilet paper and sanitizer. One large bundle of TP from Costco can take care of over 50 #2’s per day – not even a family of 10 males can reach this number! See this funny video about TP usage (some may find it offensive). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ch7gUrebnjA&has_verified=1 Go for a walk every day with or without your dog – #ComeWalkWithMe. Do a light (or intense) workout in your home on a regular basis. There are a number of body weight workouts that are available – we will be posting some for you to explore #AgingBackwards, #newfaceof60#over60
Remember, at the present time, you have a greater chance of being involved in a car accident than of contracting COVID – 19 – in the US there is about a 0.7 % chance of having a car accident.
BE SAFE. BE AWARE. FOLLOW CDC GUIDELINES. DO NOT PANIC
**CHECK ON THOSE YOU KNOW ARE ALONE! DO IT EVERYDAY.
