Cardio or Weights🏋🏻‍♂️

Whether you are new to working out or troubleshooting a plateau, I think the most important thing is... you are doing both❣️

Regardless of your choice, BOTH do amazing things for your body. Both build muscle and burn calories:)

So....it’s a matter of personal preference. I generally do my weight training first and here are some quick reasons why...

I am more focused in the first part of my workout.

I’m using that initial burst of energy.

Cardio first could tire muscles I’m using for strength training.

Doing weights first can boost your calorie burn. One of the benefits of weight training is that it burn calories well after you stop!

Again, it depends upon your fitness goals.

Lose the Carbs, not the taste.

I’m not big on cutting any food component out of your diet but, according to a Harvard Study...

High—carb diets fire up our “reward” signals starting the process for addiction.

This may explain why carbs lead to overeating.

The 20 week study, randomized 72 overweight volunteers offered 3 diets meant to maintain weight over the 20 week study:
#
60% carbs, 20% fat, and 30% protein
40% carbs, 40% fat, and 20% protein
20% carbs, 60% fat, and 20% protein

The study provided over 2000 meals and snacks.

MRIs were done to measure blood flow to Nucleus Accumbens (the area associated with “reward behavior” / addiction and cravings.

The implication is that those with higher insulin levels who eat high-carb diet are more prone to craving response.

Study continues but appears to support the overeating theory.
