So, here’s the thing.

AFTER turning 65 this year….and, after having lots of people tell me I needed to “slow down” and “eat more and workout less”,  I decided to go with my gut (see what I did there?!) pursue my passion.  I  enrolled  at Cornell University for training in Science-based Nutrition and Healthy Living.  Along the way,  Plant-Based eating and addressing the needs of those with challenging digestive issues was added.  Then, the Mind,Body,Green digestive dysbiosis program captured my attention.  I am also proficient in more than 100 Nutritional Theories – Ayurvedic, gluten-free, Paleo, raw, vegan, macrobiotics, carb-cycling, and whatever life may throw you in between!

During my training programs, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of the most innovative Medical and Nutritional Professionals of today:

I DIDN’T GROW UP WITH CHRONIC DIGESTION ISSUES.  

But, I did grow up with an excellent example of staying active and eating well.  My parents were in constant motion.  Never sick.  Didn’t take medications.  So, the one thing I have learned, is that we can chose to be healthy and strong every.single.day. It’s so simple. It’s a choice.  I have always been athletic and continue to golf, ski and run every chance I get.  But, I do notice that making small changes to my diet has helped me remain injury-free and lean.

My philosophy is to listen.  You know your body best.  I want to explore both the root cause of your symptoms as well as the challenge you are facing.   We will work  together to address your  concerns and create a lifestyle you can really live with…not a stringent eating program or a week of juice cleanses.  My commitment is to share my knowledge and, work together to  create a plan that fits YOUR specific lifestyle and goals.  If you have travel challenges, kiddos to work around or special needs, one of the Programs will work for you.

ALTHOUGH ALWAYS ATHLETIC, I MADE A COMMITMENT TO LONG-TERM HEALTHY LIVING.

Time to “walk the talk”.  This does NOT mean that you won’t catch me downing pizza every once in a while…I believe in balance…moderation.

I continue to study carb-cycling / food combing and the value of eating fewer  overly processed foods and more fruits and vegetables.  I learned how small, simple dietary changes could heal a gut or diminish skin issues.  I noticed that weighing or counting calories was NOT necessary.  I began to try my programs on The Good Doctor and a handful of friends.  Even though he has the “Italian” eating thing to deal with … he does exercise more and has shed some of the weight he’s been struggling with over the years.

IT HASN’T HELPED MY GOLF SCORE.

But, I now know that we are NOT destined to eat and suffer with some of the challenges our families faced.  We don’t necessarily have to plan on “replacements” and “injections”.  We can  be stronger and have endless energy as we age.  We can, to a certain extent, slow down Sarcopenia (the steady loss of muscle once we hit 30…..and beyond).  We can reclaim some of our lost muscle with weight-training and resistance.  It can take as little as 10 minutes a day!  Are you ready?

YOU ARE NOT YOUR NUMBER.  

You can AGE BACKWARDS or AGE LIKE FINE WINE.  YOU can live well, feel energized every day, eat great food (and, on occasion, wine), keep learning and move A LOT more…CHOOSE healthy.  CHOOSE strong.  CHOOSE to live well.

THE SHEER AMOUNT OF INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET IS STAGGERING. AND, NOT ALL NUTRITION INFORMATION IS CREATED EQUAL.

It’s NOT always clear or accurate and,  tends to leave people more confused than informed. I believe in living well – you deserve it!  I want to know more about YOU…more than just your symptoms.  My approach to wellness and healthy living is more than a  symptom, I want to dive into the causes at the root of the issue.   Armed with the  right information, program, and support, you can experience a true, life-changing health transformation.

The Programs are as diverse as the people with whom I work.  You may just need a little “kick start” to get you going in the right direction or, with the kiddos home this year, you may need a family-style plan.  You may just be doing a little more traveling.  Whatever the need, we will work together and make sure it’s the right fit for YOU.
